- PublicationAnalytics-modulated coding of surveillance video(2016)
; Gagvani, NikhilA method and apparatus for encoding surveillance video where one or more regions of interest are identified and the encoding parameter values associated with those regions are specified in accordance with intermediate outputs of a video analytics process. Such an analytics-modulated video compression approach allows the coding process to adapt dynamically based on the content of the surveillance images. In this manner, the fidelity of the region of interest is increased relative to that of a background region such that the coding efficiency is improved, including instances when no target objects appear in the scene. Better compression results can be achieved by assigning different coding priority levels to different types of detected objects. - PublicationAnchoring and sharing locations and enjoyment experience information on a presentation timeline for multimedia content streamed over a network(2012)

; ;Nguyen, Nhut ;Song, Jaeyeon ;Rhyu, Sungryeul ;Hwang, Seo-YoungPark, KyungmoAn apparatus and method for combining multimedia data are provided. The method includes obtaining first multimedia content from a first source, obtaining second multimedia content from a second source, selectively combining the first multimedia content with the second multimedia content, and outputting the selectively combined multimedia content. According to implementations of the invention, selected portions and/or fragments of multimedia content may be mashed up rather than the entirety of the multimedia content from either or both sources. Also, the mashup of the multimedia content may be varied and adapted based on the characteristics of the device performing the mashup as well as the characteristics of the available transport mechanism. Finally, implementations of the invention provide for flexible transformation and precise synchronization among multimedia elements. - PublicationAssessment of Educational Services(2006)Colbran, StephenThis invention concerns a web-based system comprising a server, computer storage and web-portal to provide an integrated management feedback system for the assessment of educational services. The system particularly comprises an interface to input definitions of graduate attributes related to levels of complexity; and input definitions of learning outcomes related to teaching theory which defines levels for outcomes. A database to map relationships between graduate attributes at particular levels of complexity and their related teaching methods and assessment items; and learning outcomes at particular levels and their related teaching methods and assessment items. A processor to automatically respond to the assessment results for a particular student and determine and record both the graduate attribute levels of complexity, and learning outcomes levels, achieved by that student.

- PublicationAssessment of educational services [New Zealand](2011)Colbran, StephenNew Zealand Patent Number: 568561. A web-based system comprising a server, database and a web-portal to provide an integrated feedback management system for the assessment of educational services is disclosed. The system comprises an interface to input definitions of graduate attributes at various levels of complexity and to input definitions of learning outcomes related to teaching theory at various levels of complexity; a database to map relationships between graduate attributes at particular levels of complexity and their related teaching methods and assessment items; and learning outcomes at particular levels and their related teaching methods and assessment items; and a processor to automatically respond to the assessment results for a particular student and determine and record both the graduate attribute levels of complexity, and learning outcomes levels, achieved by that student. The system further includes an assessment results and moderation functionality to provide one or more of the following moderation settings: first, where the moderator operates to force mean and standardisation equalisation for multiple markers for the same question; second, where the moderator may force mean and standardisation equalisation for multiple markers for different questions; and final result moderation, where the moderator may alter the cutoff points for the awarded grades, alter the awarded grades manually or increase the standard deviation
- PublicationAzetidine Analogues Nucleosidase And Phosphorylase Inhibitors(2010)
;Evans, Gary Brian ;Furneaux, Richard Hubert; ;Schrramm, Vern LTyler, Peter CharlesThis invention relates to certain azetidine analogues of nucleosidase and nucleoside phosphorylase inhibitors, the use of these compounds as pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds, methods of treating certain diseases using the compounds, processes for preparing the compounds, and intermediates useful in the preparation of the compounds. - PublicationA Document Markup Tool(2009)Colbran, StephenThis invention concerns a document markup tool, that is an application where existing authored documents can be marked or annotated. For instance, formative or summative assessment submissions authored by students might be graded by a teacher using the markup tool. The tool itself is operable by a user at a computer user interface to: Recognize the members of a set of existing documents. Open one of the existing documents in a set and display its contents to a user together with a toolbar. And, select locations in the document and, using the toolbar, add commentary and scores to the document. Wherein the markup tool is automatically operable to: Total the scores made in a document. Display the scores in a graphical report in the document. Display a moderation panel which enables visual and statistical comparisons of the scores made in a document to the scores added to all the documents of the set. And, reflect changes to the scores made in a document in the displayed moderation panel.
